Extraordinarily Deep Roots in the Industry

The name Freeman has a rich history in horticulture and landscape contracting in North Carolina, dating back to 1950. Principal Jim Freeman’s family has been very instrumental in the industry on a statewide level for decades.

The Freeman family landscape business was the first recipient of the Presidential Environmental Landscape Award in the early 1970s for the landscape planning and installation of Timme Plaza on the Cape Fear River in downtown Wilmington, the tract of land now occupied by the Hilton Hotel.

The Freemans also played a significant role in having legislation passed in the early 1970s, enacting the North Carolina Landscape Contractor Licensing laws. And both Jim’s father and his grandfather were posthumously honored by the American Association of Nurserymen for their contributions to the nursery and landscape industry.

Freeman Landscape Inc. is the largest privately owned landscape and irrigation firm in eastern North Carolina. Begun in 1992 by Robin Freeman, we are certified as both a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) and a Woman-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE). Freeman Landscape is fully insured, and holds all pertinent certifications and licenses, including North Carolina Landscape Contractor #0071 and #1054 (NCLC), NCLC Corporate License: #CL0056, North Carolina Irrigation Contractors’ Licensing Board #C-039 (NCICLB), Irrigation Licenses #064, North Carolina Certified Nursery #3788 and North Carolina Pesticide – Ground Applicator #026-22527.

We offer full-service landscape and irrigation design and installation, as well as comprehensive maintenance services, for commercial and residential clients.

And Freeman Landscape is the only landscape company with its own 16-acre nursery, which means we can deliver more mature trees and shrubs for immediate installation. As a result, our newly installed designs have a much more finished, established look.

On-Growing Education and Expertise

Regardless of title or job description, every Freeman Landscape employee is very skilled and knowledgeable about their area of expertise, and each participates in regular discussions and learning sessions regarding proper horticulture practices.

Every member of Freeman Landscape’s management team has a degree in the horticulture and/or landscape field, and receives continuing education to ensure a growing knowledge of improving landscape methods and new developments in available plant selections.

You can be assured that all installation and maintenance crews are trained to ensure every project receives ultimate attention to detail and quality of workmanship.

Additionally, safety is heavily stressed throughout the company, with weekly documented OSHA training sessions for each department.
